Background
Born in Genoa in 1937, architect Renzo Piano came from a family with an architectural descent. He first worked for his father‘s construction company when he graduated from the Polytechnic Architecture School in 1964. His first career success came when he collaborated with Richard Rogers to design the Centre Pompidou in Paris, which won them a design competition. After forming his own studio, the Renzo Piano Building workshop in 1980, numerous museum commissions led him further into a groundbreaking success, such as the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
