Background

This was a collaborative project that focuses on the development of a unique and cohesive system for a conceptual retail store, possible line extensions, and sub-brands. Many animals that are rescued have been neglected or abused, and have emotional scarring that requires special attention. An estimated 90% of the animals that enter shelters are adoptable, or could be, with care and treatment. The team saw a rising demand around the care toward pets with special needs, and we strive to provide a personalized and inclusive experience.

We envision a multi-brand retail concept that carries various lines that is targeted towards pet owners and sheltered animals. Each product brand, along with its packaging are carefully considered and thoughtfully designed to cater towards pets with special needs. The retail brand and sub-brands hope to include both physical and emotional scarring that needs extensive special cares.

Design Approach

The objective of this project was to create an conceptual retail store that enveloped around one social issue. We want to explore the limitless possibilities behind the conventional pet supplies and specific pet needs through packaging. The target demographic ranges from millennial to boomers, who are the ones that are statically more willing to adopt cats and dogs from a shelter or a rescue organization. The retail brand and its extensive sub-brands hope to include both physical and emotional scarring that needs special cares.
